Terms & Conditions
Streaming Radio helps you discover and listen to independent radio. Listening is free and ad-supported for all listeners; stations control their own content and availability. These terms do not replace your privacy choices or override rights that cannot legally be excluded.
1. Agreement and scope
These terms govern use of Streaming Radio at streamingradio.ca. Clicking “Accept & continue” confirms your agreement to these terms. The Privacy Policy explains information handling, and the Cookie Policy explains browser storage and optional choices. Read them before accepting. If you do not agree, do not accept or continue using the listening service; the policy and contact pages remain accessible for review.
You must have the legal capacity to agree, or use the service with appropriate involvement of a parent, guardian, or other authorized person. Someone acting for an organization must have authority to do so. Nothing here makes optional advertising consent a condition of listening.
2. The directory and player
The service provides station discovery, search, links, playback controls, and browser-based preferences. We do not operate the independent stations listed in the directory. The player ordinarily connects directly to a broadcaster’s stream; it does not provide a licence to download, record, redistribute, rebroadcast, or publicly perform that programming.
Canadian-first presentation is a discovery focus. A Canadian listing does not certify the nationality of every song or presenter, compliance with Canadian-content broadcast requirements, a commercial partnership, or approval by a regulator. Station information is sourced from an independent directory and can be incomplete or inaccurate.
3. Free listening, accounts, and costs
Public listening does not require an account or a subscription. Internet, mobile-data, or third-party charges may still apply. The app does not bypass access restrictions, subscriptions, or geographic controls. Administrative functions require authorized access; protect your sign-in details and report suspected misuse.
Favourites and recent history are stored in your browser, not guaranteed to be backed up or synchronized between devices. Browser limits, clearing site data, or changing domains can remove or separate those records. Sleep timers and device media controls depend on browser and operating-system support.
4. Permitted and prohibited use
Use the service lawfully and respect broadcasters, rights holders, other users, and the infrastructure providing the service. Personal listening is permitted only to the extent authorized by the relevant rights and applicable law.
- Do not circumvent access controls, impersonate a station, submit misleading information, distribute malicious links, or obtain unauthorized access to administrative systems.
- Do not use the app to record, copy, redistribute, or commercially exploit third-party broadcasts or artwork without the required permission or another lawful basis.
- Do not overload the directory, manipulate listening counts, or conduct automated collection in breach of the relevant provider’s terms.
- Do not make knowingly false rights reports or misuse contact details obtained from the service.
5. Station submissions and corrections
Submit a station only if you are authorized to provide its information. Supply accurate official links and a secure stream URL. You retain rights in your materials and permit us to review and, where appropriate, display the submitted listing information and authorized branding for directory purposes. This does not grant us ownership of your station or music rights.
A submission is a request for consideration, not a guarantee of publication, placement, approval, or audience size. We may decline, correct, restrict, or remove a listing to address accuracy, safety, rights, or service requirements. The forms open a draft email; you must send it yourself.
6. Advertising and third-party content
The free service is funded by advertising rather than listener subscription fees. Clearly labelled advertisements and direct sponsorships are part of the experience for all listeners. Cookie controls govern optional data use; they are not an ad-free option. Unsold inventory may carry a house promotion, which does not itself represent advertising revenue. Paid placement is not an endorsement of a product or a guarantee of results. Transactions with advertisers are between you and that advertiser under their own terms.
Independent stations may include advertising, opinions, explicit material, or other programming that we do not select. We do not replace or insert our visual advertisements into their audio. An external site or service may have its own terms and privacy practices.
7. Availability and service changes
Station URLs, availability, programme information, audio quality, and rights can change. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access or compatibility with every browser, device, or region. Source-reported health checks are not a promise that a stream will play for you.
We may maintain, update, suspend, or discontinue features, or restrict abusive access, with notice where reasonably practicable or legally required. We may act without advance notice where needed to address security, infringement, or urgent operational issues.
8. Responsibility and legal protections
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided as available without promises about third-party programming, accuracy, suitability, or uninterrupted operation. We are not responsible for a broadcaster’s decisions or an advertiser’s transactions merely because their content or link appears in the directory.
Any exclusion or limitation in these terms applies only where lawful. Nothing excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded, removes mandatory consumer or privacy rights, or prevents you from using rights and remedies available under applicable law. These terms do not impose mandatory arbitration or a waiver of class proceedings.
9. Changes, applicable law, and contact
These terms are subject to the Canadian laws that apply to the service and any mandatory protections that apply to you. Nothing in them selects a forum or removes a right to complain to a competent regulator or court where applicable law provides that right.
We publish the effective date and version and give additional notice or seek fresh acceptance where needed for material changes. For service questions, disputes, accessibility issues, or a request for policy information, email contact@streamingradio.ca. Copyright matters should include the details described on our Copyright & DMCA Policy page.
