Privacy Policy
Listen without an account. Your saved stations and player preferences stay in this browser. Independent broadcasters receive a connection when you play their streams. Advertising funds the free service. Optional advertising cookies are a separate choice, not an ad-free option.
1. Who this policy covers
This policy explains how Streaming Radio (“we”, “us”) handles information through streamingradio.ca and its radio-directory interface. Privacy enquiries and requests should be addressed to the Streaming Radio privacy contact at contact@streamingradio.ca.
We provide a Canadian-first discovery directory and player, not a dedicated broadcast stream. This policy covers our service; the separate practices of broadcasters, linked websites, and other independent providers also apply when you connect to them.
2. Information involved in using the service
- On your device: favourite stations, recent listening history and timestamps, the last selected station, volume, directory-server cache, your cookie preference, and the policy-version acknowledgement. These are not a cloud-synced listening profile.
- During connections: IP address, browser/device information, request time, URLs or station identifiers, and operational diagnostics may reach the services needed to deliver the page, directory information, station artwork, or stream.
- When you contact us: your name, reply address, correspondence, and station or campaign details you choose to send. Our contact and station-submission forms prepare an email in your mail app; they do not send it automatically.
- If you sign in: Base44 processes the account and session information needed for authentication and access controls. Public listening does not require a Base44 account.
- If you separately enable advertising cookies: advertising services may process device, connection, ad-interaction, and cookie information for delivery, frequency controls, fraud prevention, and measurement.
3. How the information is used
We use information to provide requested playback and discovery, remember user-selected preferences, operate and secure the app, respond to enquiries, review submissions or rights reports, and meet applicable legal obligations. Personal information is not needed to open a listener account because an account is not required to listen.
The app defaults to Canadian stations and supports province selection without requesting your precise device location. A country selection describes the directory results, not a verified location of the listener. We do not activate optional advertising simply because you accept our terms.
4. Hosting, directory data, broadcasters, and advertising
Base44 provides app infrastructure and administrative authentication. Its infrastructure can process service requests, security information, and diagnostics. A .ca address does not mean all data is hosted or processed in Canada.
Radio Browser supplies station metadata through its public directory servers. Searches can send a query and filters to those servers. A successful playback also sends the station identifier to Radio Browser’s listening-start endpoint. Its servers receive normal connection information; we do not describe these requests as anonymous. This is separate from the locally saved list of recently played stations.
Pressing play connects your browser to the selected broadcaster and any stream-delivery providers it uses. Station artwork may also load from an independent host. These providers may process connection information and include their own commercials. Our cookie setting does not control a broadcaster’s systems.
When enabled and appropriately consented, Google AdSense provides visual advertising. This app requests non-personalized ads, but that does not mean cookie-free or data-free ads. House promotions and clearly labelled direct sponsorships, including approved app-hosted creative images, are displayed regardless of the optional-cookie setting. These placements do not use a cross-site advertising profile or third-party tracking pixels. Hosting still involves ordinary connection information. Following an advertiser link takes you to that advertiser’s service.
5. Your privacy choices
The “Accept & continue” button records agreement to the Terms & Conditions and acknowledgement of the Cookie and Privacy Policies. It is not consent to optional advertising, marketing email, or unrestricted sharing of personal information.
Use Cookie settings in the footer or on our policy pages to separately enable or withdraw optional advertising permission. A further consent-management screen may be required by the provider or applicable rules. Refusing optional advertising cookies does not prevent listening and does not remove direct sponsorships or house promotions. A previously recorded, unexpired advertising choice is kept separate from policy acknowledgement.
Remove a favourite with its heart button, clear recent history on the History page, or clear browser site data to remove local records. Clearing site data also clears policy acknowledgement and can sign you out of administrative sessions. Browsers may restrict storage; in that case preferences may not persist.
6. Retention and international processing
Local favourites, history, and player settings remain until removed, replaced by newer entries, or cleared by you or your browser. The app checks a stored advertising preference for up to 180 days. The policy acknowledgement records its version and acceptance time locally and is reconsidered when the published policy version changes. No account or additional identifying field is collected solely for that acknowledgement.
We retain correspondence and business records as needed for the enquiry or relationship, a substantiated dispute, security, and applicable legal requirements, and review them for deletion when no longer needed. Hosting and independent-provider logs have their own retention rules; we do not claim a verified, uniform deletion period for those systems.
Information may be processed in Canada or other countries by hosting, communications, directory, advertising, and broadcast providers, and may be subject to lawful access there. Do not send passwords, payment-card details, or unnecessary sensitive information in an enquiry.
7. Access, correction, withdrawal, and complaints
Contact contact@streamingradio.ca to ask about information we hold about you, request access or correction, withdraw consent, request deletion where applicable, or raise a concern. We may request proportionate verification and respond within applicable legal deadlines. Some information may need to be retained for legal or security reasons; we will explain relevant limitations.
Your available rights depend on the laws that apply, including applicable Canadian federal and provincial privacy requirements. You may also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the relevant provincial regulator. Requests concerning information held independently by a broadcaster, Radio Browser, or an advertiser may need to be made to that provider.
8. Security and younger listeners
The service uses secure connections for listed playback and access controls for administrative features. These measures reduce risk but cannot guarantee that internet transmissions or device storage are completely secure. Other people with access to your browser profile may be able to see locally saved listening information.
This is a general-audience directory, not a service designed to collect children’s information. Station programming is not necessarily suitable for children. A parent or guardian should assist a young person who cannot understand the privacy choices or enter an agreement. Do not submit personal information about children; contact us if you believe it was submitted improperly.
9. Policy changes
We show the effective date and version on this page. Material changes to purposes or sharing require appropriate notice and, where necessary, fresh consent. A revised general policy does not automatically broaden an earlier optional-cookie permission.
